What I am doing these days....

The Cabinet

So some of you may already know that I have been house managing for Redmoon Theatre since March 3rd. They are doing a production called The Cabinet- based on the 1919 German Exspresionist silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" about a sonambulist (one who sleep walks trough life) who is controlled by the director of the asylum where he is confined. Eventually the doctor sends him in his sleepwalking state into the village to kill people. It isn't a happy play- but this particular production is amazing- the set is a giant cabinet of curiousity- the scenes take place in the various opening cabinet doors. 5 puppeteers manuever the puppets and giant pop up sets and shadow pupets. the show has been sold out since previews- and we have recieved amazing reviews. This photo is of Vanessa and Dr. Caligari in the courtyard of the asylum- preparing to instruct Cezar (the sonambulist)to kill the bird flying about. The show has a very black and white feel to it- and the narration is a crackly old victrola recording of Cezar himself telling his sleepwalking story. I wish you all lived closer-because it is truely something to be seen. We just extended the run to June 8th. Origionally we were to close on May 8th.I am really glad to be a part of it!
